Flags | My Site 1

The image above is a redesigned version of the Chicago flag that I created in my Visual Communication class during my Freshmen year.
The purpose of this project was to redesign three flags: the Milwaukee flag, the New Zealand flag, and the flag of my hometown.
And I had to add major elements that represent the city or country. The elements that I added to this flag were the four major elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air.
The bottom blue line in the Chicago flag is all wavy, which is supposed to represent Lake Michigan, a factor for water.
The black squares on top of the bottom line are buildings, which are supposed to represent downtown Chicago, a factor for "earth."
The four stars on top have been changed to fiery boxes, which is supposed to represent the city's soccer team Chicago fire, which is a factor for fire.
Lastly, the top blue line shows white marks that represent clouds, which is supposed to represent the sky, due to the fact that Chicago is also called the windy city, which is a factor for air.

The image above is a redesigned version of the New Zealand flag.
This was also part of the project to redesign three flags that I did in my Visual Communication class during my Freshmen year.
The yellow line on the far left is supposed to be a golden flag pole holding the British flag, which represents the fact that New Zealand was once part of the British empire.
The two red lines connecting the four red stars on the right are supposed to represent the Southern Cross constellation, except with an actual cross.

The image above is a redesigned version of the Milwaukee flag.
This was the third flag that I had to create for the three redesigned flags project for my Visual Communication class during my Freshman year.
On this flag, the colors consist of gold and blue, symbolizing Milwaukee's brewing history.
The building on the left is Milwaukee City Hall and the building on the right is supposed to be Milwaukee's brewing factory.
The white circle on the yellow background is supposed to represent the sun rising over Lake Michigan.
What I have learned from redesigning these three flags is learning about the important elements that go along with these flags.
