The image here is a poster that I designed for the Propaganda Poster Project during my junior year.
-
The purpose of this project was to create my own propaganda poster concerning a political, social, or economic issue, and then choose a clear message to communicate about the issue. The propaganda poster that I chose to make was my own Uncle Sam poster.
-
The issue that I chose for this poster was the coronavirus. The message that I wanted to give out was to ask if there was anyone out there who is doing all they can to stop this virus.
-
The message for Uncle Sam posters was for Americans, but I wanted my message to be for the world. That is why I made my Uncle Sam look like a doctor and made the background of the poster into a plain background.
-
The image works because it actually looks like Uncle Sam is wearing a doctor's uniform.
-
What I have learned from this is learning about the important elements and the purpose of a propaganda poster.
-
The image above is a made-up poster exhibition that I created for my poster exhibition project in my Graphic Design 1 class during my Sophomore year.
-
The purpose of this project was to create my own poster exhibition for the Milwaukee Art museum consisting of a silly theme for a random object. The object that I picked was a napkin, and the theme that I picked was the four corners of the world.
-
The title that I came up for this was "The Napkin, from the four corners of the world."
-
The image shows a napkin lying on the planet Earth, and the napkin has some writing on it describing the meaning of this exhibition.
-
Other elements that I added in this exhibition include some stars, a gradient circle representing the moon, and a black background representing space itself.
-
The writing on this poster represents the important information for the exhibition and the museum: the show dates, tickets, museum hours, museum information, and the Milwaukee Art Museum logo.
-
What I have learned from creating this poster is learning about the important facts of an object and learning how to create a museum poster.
-
The two images above are two different poster versions that I created for the MCA Type exhibit project.
-
The purpose of this project was to create a promotional series for a fictional "beauty of letterforms" exhibit that will be shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
-
While I was creating these posters, I wasn't just experimenting with letterforms, I was also experimenting with colors, visuals, lines, and typography.
-
In both of these images, I created my own logo by redesigning my own font for "B" and "L" which stand for "Beautiful Letterforms."
-
In the first image, I put different sets of colors in the title "Beautiful Letterforms" and had them connect with three lines, one red, one yellow, and one red/yellow gradient, to match the rainbow vibe going on with them.
-
In the color lines, I added the city of Chicago in a red/yellow gradient to make it look like the sun is rising over Chicago, and I put different forms of stylistic letterforms circling over the city to fit the overall theme of the poster.
-
The message that I was trying to give out in the first poster was that there is so much beauty that we can see and learn about here in Chicago.
-
In the second image, I put my logo, with the title under it, in the very middle of the red/yellow background, and I put yellow lines sticking out of the yellow center to make it look like the logo and title are shooting out of the background. I even added different forms of stylistic writing to encircle the logo to fit the theme of the poster.
-
The message that I was trying to give out in the second poster was that there are letterforms that are brand new to us here in Chicago.
-
This design here is one of my redesigned movie posters that I created for my promotional work for my Senior Seminar class.
-
The movie that this poster is supposed to represent is "The Magnificent 7."
-
I created this image by rasterizing a picture of the main character here and putting it into a letter portrait. Except I rasterized the image with the number "7" to make it more unique. I even added "The Magnificent" on the top to make the title look like it is going down.
-
I even added a brown box on the bottom to add the sentence "Returning to Cinemas April 25, 2022" to make it announce a particular date that it is returning to theaters. I even added some brown borders surrounding the entire page. The reason I these is because I needed to add some more elements to this poster.
-
This design here is a third redesigned movie poster that I created for my promotional work for my Senior Seminar class.
-
The movie that this poster is supposed to represent is "2001: A Space Odyssey."
-
I created this image by rasterizing a picture of the main character here and putting it into a letter portrait. I made the number "2001" vertical to make it align with the image. Then I put the other title "A Space Odyssey" under the word portrait to finish off the title.
-
I even added a black background to make it fit along with the vibe of the portrait, and so that it looks more unique.
-
Lastly, I added the sentence "Returning to Theaters May 23, 2022" to make it announce a date of when it is returning to theaters.
-
This design here is a second redesigned movie poster that I created for my promotional work for my Senior Seminar class.
-
The movie that this poster is supposed to represent is "Rocketman."
-
I created this image by rasterizing a picture of Elton John and putting it into a word portrait. I made the text vertical to make it align with the image.
-
I even added the same sentence "Returning to Cinemas April 25, 2022" on the top-right corner of the poster.
-
One other thing that I added to the poster was a black background to decrease the brightness, because it was pretty hard to see on a white background.
-
This design here is a fourth redesigned movie poster that I created for my promotional work for my Senior Seminar class.
-
The movie that this poster is supposed to represent is "ET: The Extraterrestrial."
-
I created this image by rasterizing a picture of the moon with the boy flying over on his bike and putting it in a word portrait. Then I made the word "ET" align with the image. Then I added the other title "The Extraterrestrial" under the word portrait to finish up the main title. I even had to get rid of some detail blocking the moon.
-
Next, I gave the portrait a dark blue background to make it fit along with the theme of the movie.
-
Lastly, I added the sentence "Returning to Theaters May 23, 2022" so that I can announce a date of when it is returning to theaters.
-
What I have learned from creating these four posters is learning about promotional work, and how to make it more unique.
